DeafKidz Goal!
“The DeafKidz Goal! sessions give me confidence, improve my self-esteem, and revitalize me.” -Tayyaba, DKG! participant
DeafKidz Goal! helps deaf children gain leadership and role-modelling skills that give them the best start in life. Thanks to generous funding from Comic Relief, DeafKidz International and Slum Soccer joined forces in 2019 to create DeafKidz Goal! in Nagpur.
Since then, the programme has enriched the lives of the participating deaf young people, their caregivers and communities.
How does DeafKidz Goal work?
The project is founded upon the transformative power of football to empower deaf youth with essential life skills. The project model is centred around the training of local deaf adults to become football coaches.
These coaches then deliver the training sessions to deaf youth in Indian Sign Language. The programme has a strong social element, where life skills arise organically.
