DeafKidz Defenders
DeafKidz Defenders is a first-of-its-kind resource that teaches deaf children how to stay safe in person and online. It teaches safeguarding awareness and knowledge through digital games and facilitated sessions in local sign language. Its use of visual, play-based learning methodology makes it suitable for all deaf and hearing children worldwide who have low literacy levels. It was developed with the generous support of Safe Online.

Scaling DeafKidz Defenders
DeafKidz Defenders is currently being delivered in schools, but is appropriate for any structured learning setting worldwide. Online and offline versions are available. Currently, its user interface is available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, and soon to be in Urdu, Hindi and Arabic. DeafKidz Defenders has received a fantastic response from the children, schools and parents who have used it so far: children are 7 times more likely to speak out, say no, and get help.
DeafKidz Goal!
Thanks to the generous funding from Comic Relief, in 2019 DeafKidz International and Slum Soccer forged a partnership to undertake a 3-year pilot in Nagpur named DeafKidz Goal!
Over the next 4 years this programme emerged as a great success in enriching the lives of the participating deaf young people, their caregivers and communities.
How does DeafKidz Goal work?
The project is founded upon the transformative power of football to empower deaf youth with essential life skills. The project model is centred around the training of local deaf adults to become football coaches. These coaches then deliver the training sessions to deaf youth in Indian Sign Language. The programme has a strong social element, where life skills arise organically.

Scaling DeafKidz Goal!
With the evidenced success of DeafKidz Goal! In India, we now seek opportunities to scale the programme into other geographies, especially Africa. We will harness our strong partnerships in Africa to support a cost-effective and rapid rollout.
