Actor Rachel Shenton voices our appeal on BBC Radio 4 to help raise funds for our programmes in Africa and South Asia. This appeal was broadcast on on 8 February 2026.

Rachel shares how, across Africa and Asia, deafness is often missed or misunderstood, leaving children isolated and at risk. She tells thr story of Amir, a ten-year-old from Pakistan, who was bullied and felt powerless until he joined our DeafKidz Defenders programme. With support and new skills, Amir learned to stand up for himself and stay safe. His story shows how, with your help, more deaf children can discover their strength and live free from fear
